Private dental insurance
The term private dental insurance refers to insurance for dental care undertaken by a private dentist. All dental insurers offer private dental insurance. Some offer you the choice between using an NHS dentist and a private dentist and some dental insurance policies only cover you for private care. Some insurers allow you to stay with your current dentist, while other insurers offer policies that are more like private health care plans (e.g. Bupa); where you use their nominated dentists. That also means that some dental insurance policies are only available in certain areas of the UK (where the private dentists are available), while others are national.
