My teeth are not yellow, but they are a little discoloured, I don't know what the reason is still I don't really drink tea or coffee or smoke. I don't have cosmetic dental insurance so it may cost me a little sum to get it cleaned.
I don't have the whitest teeth either, and while I don't smoke, I do drink coffee and tea, so I attribute my situation to that. I have been thinking about going in for whitening treatments, but I'm still considering how much it will cost for me as well.
My insurance won't cover a cosmetic procedure like teeth whitening either.
Do home treatments work? Has anyone tried them? My grandmother said baking soda/peroxide works. Any chance peroxide is bad for the tooth enamel?
My teeth are very discolored. Not like a smoker's. But I drink tea and coffee, and they've looked stained/yellow since I was very young...before coffee and tea.
I'm looking for a way to get whiter teeth too. I'm currently looking for home remedies, but I'm a bit weary to try some of these things in my mouth. I heard about using baking soda, but I don't know anybody who's actually tried it out, so I'm a bit hesitant to try it out.
Baking soda won't hurt you, but the results will be very slow. I'm not convinced about spending money on any of the over the counter remedies. My uncle got his teeth done for his acting career, he paid thousands of dollars to have that movie-perfect smile...those smiles really are only in the movies. The rest of us should probably just do the basic healthy stuff. inho
Well I think that starting with cheap or free home remedies is the best place to start, but for some people, a quick fix is the one thing that they have their hearts set on. I would like to try the baking soda method. What exactly does this entail?
I asked my grandmother about it (they know everything, right?). It's just a little bit of baking soda, with a drop or two of peroxide to dampen it. Mix the small amount together into a dollop of paste and use it like toothpaste. I don't know how long you leave it on, but do it daily and she said there should be results.
I would brush with it, not leave it on the teeth. I wouldn't go for the normal whitening methods because they can cause de-mineralisation of the teeth I have recently learned. I am not sure that the risks involved with that are worth the cosmetic benefit.
Has anyone ever tried those Colgate whitening strips? I have tried colgates whitening toothpaste and while I still don't have the teeth I would like to have it is at least 2 shades lighter then before I switched toothpaste
